Points to consider when applying for a post study work permit

Each year, international students will apply to stay to work in the UK after studying. Perhaps you are one of them and are finding it difficult to understand how to apply for a post study work visa. We have included a few important points here for you to consider if you are hoping to submit an application to the UK work permit consultants.

First of all if you are hoping to stay in the UK after completing your study, you need to satisfy the UK Government policy on immigration. For example, they will consider your command of the English language, your immigration status, if you have available funds to support yourself and the type of qualification you have completed. These areas will be assessed as part of the points based system and in order to apply for a post study work visa, you need to be able to achieve at least 95 points.

If you are still studying and do not yet have a job lined up for when you finish your course, do not worry. You can still apply for the visa if you have not yet been able to secure employment or sponsorship. If your application for a post study work permit visa is granted, there will be no restrictions placed on the type of work you can do, however you will only be able to stay in the UK for two years under this system.

The qualification must have already been obtained before you can submit an application for a visa. Likewise, you must apply for a post study work visa within a year of obtained your qualification. The type of course you have studied will also affect your eligibility to apply for the visa. For example, this visa has been designed for students who have completed a Higher National Diploma in Scotland, a postgraduate course or undergraduate degree. If you have trained to be a teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Postgraduate Professional Graduate Diploma of Education (PGDE) in Scotland, you may also apply for this visa. However, if you completed another type of course including other postgraduate diplomas or certificates, you may not be eligible to apply. If you are concerned about your eligibility or have any questions speak to an advisor in your university or college welfare office now.

If you are successful in your application you should find work as soon as possible. After securing employment or sponsorship you may then be able to move into another immigration category by obtaining additional points under the points based system. For example, this may include the sponsored skilled worker or highly skilled worker categories.
