Tier 1 Visa (Exceptional Talent)
The Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) category is for those who are internationally recognised as world leaders or potential world-leading talent in the fields of science and the arts and who wish to work in the UK.
The category will be overseen by world-renowned 'competent bodies', which will advise the UKBA on these "exceptionally talented" migrants to ensure they are the brightest and best in their field. These four 'competent bodies' are The Royal Society, Arts Council England, The Royal Academy of Engineering and The British Academy.
There is a limit of 1,000 places in the first year of operation: 500 between 9th August and 30th November 2011 and a further 500 from 1st December 2011 and the end of March 2012.
To qualify for a Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa you must score 85 points for your attributes as follows:
- 75 points for endorsement by Designated Competent Body, and
- 10 points for English language (funds).
