Tier 1 Visa (General)
The Tier 1 (General) category was closed to new applicants on 5th April 2011. However existing HSMP and Tier 1 (General) visa holders may apply to extend their visas
What points you have to score to extend your HSMP or Tier 1 (General) visa.
To extend your Tier 1 (General) visa you must score the same number of points that you were required to score when you originally applied, so a total of 95 or 100 points, as follows.
- 75 or 80 points for your attributes (age, qualifications, previous earnings, and experience in the United Kingdom); and
- 10 points for English language; and
- 10 points for available maintenance (funds).
